Located on a one-kilometre stretch of private beach overlooking the strait that separates Abu Dhabi Island from the mainland, the hotel is situated ten minutes' drive from the city’s international airport, five minutes from the golf course and the new Convention Centre and 15 minutes from the Corniche and the city centre. Shangri-La, Qaryat Al Beri features 214 luxurious rooms and suites, all furnished to the highest standards in a modern Arabic style.  Each room also has a balcony or a terrace providing an ideal setting for viewing striking Ocean sunsets and traditional Arabic domes and minarets.  Accommodation choices also include six spectacular villas comprising four bedrooms and a private swimming pool.  Ideal for longer stays, Shangri-La residences include 161 spacious serviced apartments ranging from studios to four-bedroom units.

The 8.5 hectare hotel complex provides a wide range of facilities and services for the discerning traveller.  These include the signature CHI, The Spa at Shangri-La, and a dedicated well-being zone comprising two gymnasiums, a swimming pool and a yoga room. In addition, there are four swimming pools within the grounds.  The "Souk" traditional Arabian market built in a modern setting offers a variety of shops under one roof which are connected by a waterway featuring Arabic gondolas, or abras, which slowly meander through this unique architecture lush garden scenery. The Health club facilities are designed to ensure that our visitors residing in or out of the hotel complex can find escapism and injection of wellness. This self-contained rejuvenation centre is a short hop by abras (waterway taxi) or a brief stroll through the hotel's lush gardens. Spacious Luxury in a Private, Personal Spa: CHI, The Spa at Shangri-La, offers distinctive luxury and indulgence. The 12 spacious private treatment offer total comfort to stimulate the senses, relax the body and restore balance to the spirit with authentic Ch'i therapy methods.

Understanding Ch'i: In traditional Chinese philosophy, ch'i is the universal life force that governs well-being and personal vitality. For people to maintain good health, it is believed that ch'i must flow freely within the body. Exercise, stretching, massage, hydrotherapy and movement of the mind through relaxation and meditation combine to assist the body's natural renewal, forming the basis of the CHI experience.

Meeting your needs:Upon your arrival at CHI, The Spa, your Receptionist will conduct a brief consultation to determine your five element sign and ensure that you have the treatments best suited to your needs. Please advise the Receptionist if you are pregnant or have any health issues. Our Receptionists are experienced in all treatments and would be delighted to assist you in planning your spa programme if you are staying in the hotel for more than one day.

Preparing for your treatment:For ladies, no preparation is necessary. Turn up and enjoy! For men, we recommend shaving prior to having a facial for maximum comfort and benefit to the skin. Other treatments require no preparation.

What to wear:There is no need to bring or wear any special clothing, as spa wear is provided in your treatment suite. Facial gowns are provided for facials. Comfortable underwear is provided for all other body treatments and massages.

Privacy:Your privacy will be protected at all times. Your Therapist will leave you to change in private and throughout the treatment you will be draped with towels, covering all parts of the body not being treated. Ladies will be given the option of including the bust area in all body treatments.

Reservations: Advance booking prior to intended treatment time is recommended. Please either call or visit the Spa should you wish to discuss your personalised treatment.

Arriving time: To make the most of your spa experience, please arrive at least 10 minutes before your appointment.

Late arrivals: In the event that you are running late, we will endeavor to conduct your full treatment. However, please note that the treatment may need to be shortened should there be another booking immediately afterward.

Spa ettiquette: To preserve the harmony within the spa kindly turn off your mobile phone.

Minimum age: To maintain a peaceful environment, children under 16 years are not permitted in the spa.

Cancellation: In consideration of other spa guests, as your treatment requires that facilities be reserved, we request a minimum of 12 hours' notice if you are unable to keep your appointment. Please call our staff, who will behappy to reschedule. No shows or appointments cancelled within 12hours will incur a 50 percent cancellation fee.

Your comfort: Although we do our best to anticipate your needs, weappreciate that a spa is a very individual experience. Please let your Therapist know if there is any way that she can improve your treatment or comfort - for example, heavier or lighter massage pressure, an extra towel, sound or lighting levels, etc. We appreciate yourfeedback and encourage you to kindly fill in a Guest Questionnaire following your treatment.

Ideally located between the two bridges of Al Maqta and Mussafah, the hotel is only a 10-minute drive from Abu Dhabi International Airport, five minutes from the new and enlarged Convention Centre, and 15 minutes from the Corniche and the city centre. The hotel is only two minutes from the two main highways leading to the city centre in one direction and the airport in the other. These roads are also the main feeders for connecting to the other primary cities around the UAE.

Abu Dhabi has traditional souks (markets) and modern malls.  These offer a wide variety of shopping options, from the comfort of air-conditioned malls to the bustle of the souks. The range of items available truly makes this destination a shopping paradise. The range of products and prices is unbeatable. Whether choosing to flex the plastic in designer boutiques or haggle in the local market, the emirate's shopping experience is unbeatable with popular purchases including carpets, rugs, textiles, gold, antiques, jewellery and traditional wooden furniture. Many of the malls house a broad selection of famous international brand outlets, food centres, children play areas and cinemas.  Promotional periods run through the year and raffle draws are also popular events with shoppers. The souks are traditional places where local handicrafts are sold along with household and food items. Bargaining is a time-honoured tradition and expected when haggling for souvenirs.

Airport Connections

Shangri-La Hotel, Qaryat Al Beri, Abu Dhabi, is ideally located between the two bridges of Al Maqta and Mussafah leading into Abu Dhabi, Capital of the United Arab Emirates. Shangri-La Hotel, Qaryat Al Beri, sits along a one-kilometre stretch of picturesque beachfront. The hotel is a 10 minute drive from Abu Dhabi International Airport, five minutes from the newly refurbished Abu Dhabi International Convention Centre (ADNEC) and 15 minutes from the Corniche and the city centre.

If you would like us to arrange an airport pick-up for you, simply provide your airline name, flight number, and estimated time of arrival when you make your room booking online, or contact the hotel directly at least one day in advance.

Taxis

Inexpensive and plentiful, individual registered taxis can be flagged down by the roadside.  Taxis are also available outside hotels, malls and restaurants. Alternatively they can be booked by telephone.

Public Transport

Abu Dhabi municipality runs comprehensive bus routes. The airport-to-city-centre service runs at regular intervals.

Car Hire

Available upon arrival at Abu Dhabi at Level 1. Upon leaving the airport, follow the signs to Abu Dhabi city. After traveling for approximately 16 kilometres take the exit “Between the Bridges”, at the first roundabout take the third exit, at the second roundabout take the third exit again and follow the road for a kilometre, at the next roundabout take the second exit (straight ahead) and the road will lead to the hotel entrance. Parking is complimentary for all guests.
