In an enviable location in the Scotts Road/Newton area, at a quiet corner of the prestigious residential neighbourhood of Cairnhill, stands a landmark residential development of abstract sculptures.
Orchard Scotts, a sophisticated urban project, comprises three dual-tone chequered prism towers coloured in the blues of the sky, the browns of the earth and the greens of the foliage, juxtaposed in a lush landscape.
The abstract concept of Orchard Scotts is based on the artist’s paint palette and the splashing of paint on the canvas of an artwork. This is manifested in the form of the Teflon-covered linkway that flows from one tower to another, the undulating ground profile, the sculptured walls, and the shape of the pools in the landscape.
And like the multi-hued paint palette, the colours run from the towers onto the walkways and into the pools, and are reflected in the surrounding landscape of lush arid vegetation. This abstract feature highlights the provocative nature of the landscape design.
In Orchard Scotts, there are gardens within gardens, layers upon layers, and contrasting textures against textures, in the concentration of arid plants that envelope 75 per cent of the site area.
Willowy yellow bamboo bordered by the even finer texture bamboo grass, sway serenely in unison near the entrance of the development. Nearby is the Zen Koi pond, scented by the fragrance of lush frangipani trees.
Orchard Scotts has probably the largest variety of eucalyptus trees found in a development in Singapore. These six varieties including Lemon-Scented Gum, Cider Gum and River Red Gum, are planted in concentration to create a forest effect.
Its Mediterranean garden is a riot of colours with the many species of flora like the Red and Spiral Ginger, White Bunga Kertas, Orange and Yellow Cannas, Red Passion Flower, Foliage Heliconia in red and yellow, Chinese Hibiscus, Red Jungle Geranium, Vietnamese Ixora, and the exotic Tiger Orchid.
Rustic elements of granite benches and sculptures provide gentle contrast to the steel and glass of the towers. A resort style party pavilion of cider timber stands in quiet readiness for life and music in the calm of Orchard Scotts.
Orchard Scotts is a veritable botanic garden. There are more than a hundred species of plants to be found here. Residents will have a grand time spotting the Elephant Ear and the Parrot Flower, avoiding Mother-In-Law’s Tongue, while listening to the Song of India, and contemplating the Buddhist Pine.
Being a haven of supreme elegance, the Orchard Scotts Residences offers unmatched hospitality, unparalleled services and the very best facilities as well as ensures a life of ease at Singapore.
