‘Hakura huraa’ means reef above water " and that’s what you will discover at Chaaya Lagoon Hakura Huraa" a life of tranquility and sweetness revitalised by water. Step into it and be surprised... The All-Inclusive resort is located in one of the longest reef stretch in Meemu atoll, the is land itself is an elongated island with the clearest of clear lagoon and lush vegetation which will definitely a paradise, once visited never to be forgotten.
For us should be 6 suns, but allowing for views of other people have marked as 5. 5 - 70 superb water bungalows and 10 beach bungalows, all refurbished to a good standard following the Tsunami. Water bungalows have glass viewing panel in the sitting area and steps leading down into the coral lagoon. Lagoon quite shallow - not really for swimmers and lots of coral around the bungalows so take water shoes. All-inclusive menu good - could always find something tasty to eat.
Meal on the beach was excellent and, although an extra cost, well-worth it. Meal in the coffee shop on Saturday night did not come up to expectations (not as good as previous years) so would not do that again. Good selection of books for those who just want to relax in the sun. Small jewellers and a small shop selling some sun and hygeine products, beach clothes and knick-knacks. (Relatively expensive.) Would not recommend for families with small children as there are a lot of unfenced over-water walkways.
(500 metre walk along jetty to get on to the island, unfenced jetties across to all of the water bungalows and to the main bar area.) Would suit snorkellers, divers, honeymoon couples, and those just wanting to relax on a little paradise island. All staff extremely helpful and service excellent. Seaplane trip from Male to the resort a little cramped - but what a wonderful experience. Watch your luggage weight - have to pay extra for the seaplane if over 20 kgs.
