Welcome to The Haad Tien Beach Resort, Koh Samui / Koh Phangan ~~~

Hotel Introduction
facade

Koh Tao Means " Turtle Island" , Because of the abundance of marine turtles that used to breed in its rich and fertile waters. Koh Tao is located in the Gulf of Thailand approximately 45 km north of Koh Phangan and 70 km east from the coastline of mainland Thailand. However given the new fast ferry services from Koh Samui and Chumporn, this idyllic unspoilt island is now easily assessible for the more discerning travellers.

The haad tien beach resort is not meant to be just another "boutique"design hotel. The land, which provides a stunning backdrop to the resort, has been in my family undeveloped for almost 30 years and used solely as a "sanctuary" for us to escape the bustle and congestion of Bangkok.

In developing the resort, we have always kept the feeling of "sanctuary" and respect for the natural beauty and tranquility in mind. We hope that you can now also share with us this little hidden piece of paradise.

Diving

Koh Tao is reknowed for diving. More PADI open water courses are carried out on Koh Tao than anywhere else in Thailand. This is mainly due to the diverse and safe marine environment around the island.

During 2010 the resort will be building a PADI dive centre, but in the meantime reception can arrange contact with a number of local and reputable operators, who will pick you up and drop you back to the resort after your trips. All manner of dives can be carried out in Koh Tao, from beginners taking there PADI Open Water Courses, to Dive Master Courses, night diving, Nitrox and wreck diving.

Deep Sea Fishing

The resort has a goft Fountain powerboat and experienced crew that is fully equipped for deep sea fishing. The water's of Koh Tao Teem with life and many game fish can be found such as Spanish Mackerel, Barracuda and even Marlin. Alternatively for something different, we can arrange a night fishing trip to catch Squid of Mullet.

Massage

Private masseurs'are available to book from reception. Trained in both Thai and Western styles, let them sooth away the stress and grind of daily life. The resort is planning a spa centre to be added during 2010, but in the meantime the island has a wealth of spa and hollistic treatment facilities, please ask at reception for more information.

Snorkelling

The resort has snorkelling equipment available for guests and with the house reef only a stones throw from the beach, even the most ardent sunbather may find themselves tempted to take the plunge.

If you fancy going a little further afield we can arrange a snorkelling trip on one of the resorts boats, and arrange a packed lunch freshly prepared by our chefs should you require it.

Water Skiing/Wake boarding

As Koh Tao is an island you would expect a full range of water based activities to be available, both waterskiing and wakeboarding can be booked at the resort, using our own "fountain" powerboat or the resorts "Boston Whaler" ,please ask at reception.

Other island activities

  • Mountain Biking
  • Yoga Classes

How to get here

The ferries are not that large and onboard entertainment is limited, so an MP3 or similar divice is a good idea. Please also remember that during the winter months it can be coppy, so seasickness tablets are advisable.

Once you arrive on Koh Tao at Mae Haak, (both operators arrive at the same location), one of our representatives will meet you at athe pier and transfer you to The haad tien. Please ensure you advise us prior to your journey which operator you are using and your arrival time to allow us to facilitate the fransfer.

Via Chumphon

Getting to Chumphon from Bangkok is very simple either by train or a comfort-able VIP bus. Both options can easily be booked in Bangkok or online.

Lomprah Catamaran offers two trips and Seatran Discovery offers one trip from Chumphon daily, the price includes the transfer to Koh Tao.

Once you arrive on Koh Tao at Mae Haad, one of our representatives will meet you from the boat and transfer you to the haad tien. Please ensure you advise us prior to your joumey which operator you are using and your arrival time to allow us to facilitate the transfer.

Via Phuket and Krabi

You can travel overland to Suratthani and then via boat to Koh Tao if you wish, but in practice this is at times a long and uncomfortable journey in a minibus. Boat options are very limited and the only direct boat is rather dubious even at the best of times. The night boat leaves Suratthani every night at 23.00 hrs.

We therefore strongly recommend that you fly from Phuket of Krabi to Koh Samui and take the boat from there. Bangkok Airways operate daily scheduled flights from both destinations.
