French Polynesia is made up of 118 beautiful islands, which are spread across more than 5 million square km of the South Pacific. The islands are grouped into five archipelagos, the Society Islands , the Tuamotu group, the Marquises, the Austral archipelagos and the Gambier archipelago. Each of the archipelagos is very different from each other and range from high volcanic islands and mountain peeks to low islands and atolls surrounded by tranquil turquoise lagoons.

Club Med Bora Bora is located in the stunning bay of Faaopore, on the South Coast of Bora Bora Island in French Polynesia.

Guests will take a 45-minute flight from Papeete to the Motu Mute Airport, the nearest airport from Bora Bora. They then enjoy a 15-minute scenic launch transfer to Vaitape, where they are met by Club Med and transferred by shuttle to our Village. The journey takes approximately 15 minutes.

French Polynesia enjoys a tropical climate all year round with daytime temperatures usually between 28-33 0C. The best time to visit Tahiti is from April to October as temperatures are slightly cooler and drier. From November to April the climate is warmer and humid. While most of the rain falls from November to April, there are still plenty of sunny days during these months with refreshing trade winds.

All visitors to French Polynesia must hold a current passport valid for at least 3 months to be allowed entry, and a return or onward ticket is required. New Zealand and Australian passport holders have free entry for up to 30 days, and people from countries belonging to the E.E.C have free entry for a stay for up to 90 days, and no visa is required.

All visitors are responsible for checking for any visa requirements, which may be applicable according to their citizenship and country of residence.

The official currency in Tahiti is the Pacific French Franc, abbreviated as CFP and XPF.

A bank is open at FAA'A airport in Tahiti to meet all international flights so currency can be changed on arrival. Club Med Bora Bora accepts Pacific French Franc, Euros and US dollars. Major credit cards are also accepted at the Village and the nearest bank is located in Vaitape, 7.4 miles from Club Med Bora Bora.

Visa, Mastercard, American Express and JCB are welcome.

Bar tickets and bar bracelets for the purchase of all drinks and snacks at the bar are on sale at the Reception. (Unused tickets are non-refundable)

iconDress Code

As daytime temperatures are generally high and tropical, light casual clothing and natural fibres are highly recommended. The standard evening attire is trousers and a shirt for men while women generally wear dresses and resort wear. A light jersey or sweatshirt is recommended for the evenings where the temperatures tend to drop slightly.
